The sisters Hechizo and Hiedra are part of our first-generation PRE brood mares, and have given some wonderful PRE dressage offspring.
"Hiedra" means "Ivy" (a plant).
At 16.3hh / 170 cm, Hiedra is very tall for being a purebred Spanish mare. Unusual for PRE horses, she also has naturally uphill movements, as well as three excellent gaits that she transmits to her offspring.
Hiedra's character is noble and upright, and is the one that always wants to peacefully greet and check out any newcomers. She is very positive, has much energy under saddle plus a great willingness to work.

Before deciding if we were going to breed with her, we wanted to see how Hiedra was doing under saddle. Here below you can see her working at 3 years old under the direction of Enrique Cruces, the technical director of the Royal Maestranza in Ronda, the leading Spanish dressage academy at the time.

In the photos below, Hiedra VG has come in straight from the fields for an improvised photo shoot. She has just given birth to Farido "Coco" Real, the last generation of offsprings sired by international Grand Prix horse Atiza II before he passed away due to advanced age.

Origins: Guardiola, Bocado
Hiedra's mother Mañosa V is a Spanish grand champion mare (see photos and list of merits below). Mañosa V is a daughter of the legendary Mañoso II, foundation stallion of Yeguada Ferrero, whose many sons and daughters are breed and movement champions the world over. Mañosa V is a sister of Fer Bulería.
On the father side, Hiedra is a daughter of Joyero, grand daughter of Corinto X and great grand daughter of the outstanding Guardiola stallion Educado X, a son of the legendary Guardiola stallion Centella V.
Centella V, Champion of Spain 1984, is a key to some of the best PRE dressage bloodlines. This amazing horse is the father of a number of extraordinary PRE, like the outstanding stud stallion Educado X, both of the world famous Guardiola bloodline.
The Guardiola is one of the most prominent families / studfarms / bloodlines of Spain. PRE breeders since many generations of working horses suitable for the hard and often dangerous work with the bulls in the fields, the family is famous for the power, intelligence and strength of their hard-working PRE horses.

Educado X is four times the winner of SICAB gold medals, and is himself father of many of Spain’s multichampion horses.
Hiedra's father Joyero (Corinto X x Joyera XI) is a grandson of Educado X, and a perfect example of the genetic power of the Centella V line, giving strong, beautiful and athletic offspring with excellent gaits and very good, often naturally uphill movements, which is otherwise very rare in the PRE breed.

As he was born at a time in Spain when breeders did not care at all about dressage, Joyero Salvatella started his training as a dressage horse only at seven years of age. He is currently competing at the Prix St George level in Spain, and in training for the Grand Prix. His full brother Joyero VG who was trained properly from the start has become an international Grand Prix star.
